Whats up everyone. We are in New Windsor, NY right now at Nada Studios finishing up our last day. This place is amazing and it has been a blast. We had the pleasure of having Paul from The Ataris engineer our guitars and bass and the infamous John Naclerio record everything else. All in all we finished 2 songs that we are really happy with and hope ya'll will like. The Release date for the new songs as of now is Oct 29th which is next Saturday. Until then we have put on purevolume every song that we have ever recorded. They are all downloadable just for this week. So steal them from us before we change our mind lol.
Thanks for everyone who was been coming out to our recent shows and supporting us. I know i speak for the other 4 guys when i say we greatly appreciate it. We have all new merch that should be available sometime this fall. Hoodies and such. I believe the next show we have is not until November 6th. We will probably have demos with the 2 new songs on them available for like two dollars or somethin. We are also playing at Bryant University on November 18th. I hope to see everyone soon!

[01 Oct 2005|10:44pm] |
Hey there guys, I'm sorry to disappoint, but this isn't going to be a quirky odd post like all the rest of mine...The two others? Yeah. I just thought I'd quickly let everyone know what's going on. And by everyone, I mean Jamel. And by Jamel, I really mean I won't be dreaming of anything else tonight... Moo. We have shows Oct 8, 9, 11, and Nov 6. Well how about them apples. Why not check them out? I'm sure Matt's body is hott enough to draw the gay guys in. And by gay I mean Jamel. Wait, what about sleepless nights? We've got two new excellent songs, The Treehouse Song and The Jazz Song (I'm not sure if we're really naming those that yet), and I daresay they have caused a many a dancing and a many a laughing when heard. Greg also got pretty good at singing, so I've stopped wearing earplugs at our shows. Oh damn! Can you feel the heat, cause that was a burn! More songs are on the way too, and my dance movements increase in sexiness as the crowds increase in size, so be sure to eat a lot 3 months in advance of our next show. Well, this really didn't have much purpose, but I hope to see you at our shows. And by you, I mean Jamel.
Take care, Andy

[07 Sep 2005|01:10pm] |
hey, so we havent updated this in a while. i dont even know if its worthwhile at this point, but im in between classes and not wanting to work on anything. so, since greg last updated...
1. i think its important to mention first off, very plainly, that we have absolutely no intentions of breaking up or slowing down this school year. i dont think any of us could handle that.
2. susen's farewell show was pretty sweet. i know i speak for everyone when i say we miss him a hell of a lot. but, trust me when i tell you hes having a good time in south carolina. so far, he hasnt been called a 'big city boy' by someone whose number of teeth and IQ are lower than his age. just kidding kids south of the mason-dixon line. no, really.
3. thanks to anyone who has come to a show over the past 4-6 weeks; there have been some good ones. were currently working on booking for the fall, so continue to check purevolume.com for new dates.
4. apparently we have a new website. this fact was solidified for me when i tried to go to www.thenorthwoodmusic.com and a little emo black tree told me a new site was on the way. id tell you when exactly it'd be getting here, but i would be lying. if you know though, fill me in.
5. we have ep's, and 'disaster and drama' shirts still available for sale, along with two new shirt designs, and several new sticker and pin designs. thanks to all of our merch artists; you all rock pretty hard. we also have this sweet little clothing rack thing and a light so you can see stuff in dark shows. we also have tupperware containers. for shirts. not for sale.
so, basically, weve been spending our time hard at work writing and dealing with other important matters. we debuted (sp?) a few new songs in august, and there are more to come. we will keep you posted with stuff, though, as evidenced by this livejournal, that might not be until january.
**SHOWS, NOT NECESSARILY US, BUT MOST OF THEM ARE**
Wednesday, September 7 the century lounge providence, ri THE INVITE w/ paramore, my american heart, bedlight for blue eyes
Saturday, September 10 the federated church norfolk, ma w/ Slik Willy, Hideaway, Goodbye Harbor Road
NOTE: i guess theres a good xharccorex show tonight too. while some would disagree, i dont tend to consider the northwood xhardcorex, but rather more emo-bop. although we did headline a xhardcorex show once. the xhardcorex kids with their mosh hats (interestingly, mike recently bought a xhardcorex hat, although he is in the northwizzle) and xstraightedgex bumper stickers didn't know what to do. we didnt care though cause we got paid. anyways, if you dont like xhardcorex, xgox xtox xthisx xshowx x.x

Hi everyone, As a preface to this post, I would like to inform you: This is neither a post of mirth, nor of a lugubrious nature, but merely to inform, and I at no point wish to blame anyone for the recent events regarding this band member’s personal life. Not one person of literature should even try to utilize the diction in this post to analyze the tone, as the lofty bombastic nature of it will surely make any analysis vapid and circuitous.
Having said that:
Last night, at 7:00 PM, our very own Mike Susen was attacked by 8000 killer miniature monkey ninjas.
Mike had just finished his Clemson practice Math test, and, after subjecting the test to a most thorough raping, decided he would indulge himself in some delicacies. After the contents of his refrigerator proved insufficient, Mike decided to take a peregrination down to the local store, where he could purchase some sweet-goods and flirt with the female cashier:
"That'll be 4.50." "Those are nice boobs you got there." "Okay, 3.75."
After saving himself the 75 cents, and enjoying a sweet piece of delicious apple pie, Mike walked out of the store and onto the side walk. Then, Mike thought he saw a shooting star, as a brilliant object flew rapidly past his head, so fast that he could not discern its identity. Mike made a mental wish: "Save us from this drowning-" But alas! He could not finish, as he suddenly felt his shirt being pulled over his mouth. "Mff! Mff!" He struggled, but to no avail against the powerful force of what felt like thousands and thousands of small, yet dexterous hands. After finally breaking free from their gasp, Mike looked up. In a later interview, Mike succinctly summarized the shock of facing 8000 miniature monkey ninjas: "It was like TREOS's new material - an orgasm, but out of amazement rather than pleasure." Yet, Mike hardly had time to recuperate - the miniature monkey ninjas began to attack him from all angles in a sort of blitzkrieg manner, seeking to quickly destroy, and move onto their next victim. Yet remember: these were no normal miniature monkey ninjas. These were KILLER miniature monkey ninjas. The monkey ninjas pulled out their miniature monkey swords, and began to cut Mike's clothing into miniature pieces, starring with the "Nizzle" and eventually working their way towards the "Brand." In less than 30 seconds, Mike's rippling abs and screaming biceps were resplendent in the moonlight, covered with sweat salty sweat and manly man-hair. And right then, mike had an epiphany: "Wait!" Mike shouted. "Stop! Wait! You're breaking the Monkey Samurai code!" A monkey stopped. "Wait, quiet everyone! He speaks of the code!" The monkeys halted their attacks at once. Mike, with his year of AP European History flowing back into his veins, suddenly realized what an egregious violation the monkeys had committed. "The Monkey Samurai Code states that true monkey samurai must fight honorably, and with virtue, giving their opponent a fair and equal opportunity to defend himself." "He speaks the truth!" shouted one monkey with zeal. “The man speaks the truth!” “What have we done!” shouted another, larger monkey. “FOR THE LOVE OF THE MONKEY LORD, WHAT – HAVE – WE – DONE!” The monkeys at once became voluble, and were too distracted with their own affairs to pay attention to Mike’s actions. Finally, a large, dominant monkey stood: “We must give him an equal chance! We must give him a fair opportunity to prove his monkey-defeating skills!” “Yes!” shouted the monkeys. “We must not continue destroying the man! We must fight – WITH HONOR!” This received much enthusiastic applause, and many “Hear, hears!” Yet the monkeys had let their guard down for too long: “Take this, you monkey biatches!” Mike suddenly reappeared, shirtless, with a large steel backpack and an attached pipe. The monkeys, incredulous, shouted: “Wait! We will offer you a fair fight at once, or leave upon your request!” “Burn in hell, you ungrateful bastards!” retorted Mike, and then turned a nozzle. The monkeys went up in flames, releasing the putrid odor of fried monkey into the air, strangely simulating the odor of various fast food restaurants. “Feel the pain! Teaching us how much more we can take!” shouted the leading monkey. “Break the silence! We realize our downfall!” shouted another monkey. “Cursed with your memories!” shouted a third monkey, who then began jumping up and down before extinguishing himself to the pavement. In less than three hours, 8000 killer miniature monkey ninjas lie dead on the pavement, a charcoaled menagerie of ape flesh. Mike Susen returned the flamethrower to the cashier inside, with a wink, and said, “Thanks baby. That was hott stuff.” After returning home, Mike stripped down naked and took a long, cool shower before returning to bed. The next day, he awoke, only faintly remembering the monkey ninjas, and wondering what happened to his brand new Brand New shirt.

Hey, You know, I never update this thing, so rather than finish studying for Biology and then sleeping, I thought I might write for a little bit. A lot of people think Greg is Greek. Don't be foolish. He's just really hairy and eats a lot of pizza. The word is out, Mike Susen is going to Clemson. I decided I'm going to go to Clemson too, because I don't want to just leave him carrying my baby like that. I heard about this thing called a "Mutrie Squeeze"? We'll have to ask Christina about that one. Some people think Billy looks like Frodo Baggins. I completely agree. There's absolutely nothing wrong with Matt other than he might be the most imperfect person I've meet in my entire life minus almost everyone else I've ever met in my entire life, minus dogs, because they're not people but animals that can feel, and in conclusion, I love feeling dogs. I like pitch correcters because they can dance and correct my pitch. People tell me that I need to "rock out". But when I went outside and starting asking a rock if she'd go out with me, it just didn't respond. So please don't be disappointed if I look like some type of retarded flamingo doing weird stuff on one leg at the next show. Remember: that bastard rock just broke my heart, that's all. Mollie shouldn't spell her name with ie. She should get some of Ryan's Y into her (anyone who knows anything about x and y chromosomes will get this joke). Matt loves backseats. I like frontseats because I prefer to be the head of the car. Approaching the fireworks, over the hills, the sparks burned me and I lit on fire, because Jamel is so sexy... No one can take these feelings from us because I'm going to beat everyone so senseless they won't be able to feel anymore. Guns don't kill people. Bullets kill people. If you ever get confused about girls, study the mestrual cycle. Then you'll really understand how messed up they are. The RMV spells parallel PARALLEL. It's a good thing they didn't ask you to do that on your road test. Math teachers are rigid. Geology teachers rock. And lastly: I need you like a Dragonfly's wings need the wind. Until someone steps on the Dragonfly.
Good night, Andy

Soooo this weekend will be awesome for you if you like The Northwood. This Friday, 3/11, we're playing in Seekonk, MA at the Seekonk American Legion with So Long December, Arwen, Waving at Strangers, Can't Face the Falling, and our best friends, The Cadence. This show promises to rock, and if you can make the drive we strongly encourage you to do so. On Saturday, 3/12, we're playing at Jarrod's Place in Attleboro, MA, with The Cadence and some other local bands. But The Cadence is all you really need to know. This show is relatively close by (15 minutes?), and you won't want to miss it. And finally, we're playing the WBCN Battle of the Bands at Harper's Ferry in Boston, MA on Sunday, 3/13 (in the afternoon). Please come help and rock out, we would really appreciate it.
Hopefully, within the next few weeks, we will be releasing our two NEW songs on purevolume.com/thenorthwood and myspace.com/thenorthwood. We're all happy with the way they turned out, and we think you'll like them. A lot. The EP will hopefully be released shortly after. We just gotta get it duplicated and all that stuff.
And one more thing... you may not be familiar with Arwen, who is playing with us this Friday. You should be, those guys bring the rock. Plus they are nifty dudes. Check them out at purevolume.com/arwen.
seeing you this weekend-ly,
Mike S.

On Tuesday we went into the studio from early Tuesday into very early Wednesday. We finished recording Relapse, Revisit, Wait... and Sounds of Autumn. Those should be out in early March. We're getting those pressed so they'll look very professional all shrink wrapped and what not. We had a show last night with Emma, AL4W, No Easy Answer, Frequency Needs a Mate, and Skyview Drive. Do to the snow the expected crowd was not there but we rocked hard anyway. ANDY ACTUALLY ROCKED OUT!!! it was as fantastic as we all hoped. The show went well all of those bands are really nice guys so, we had a ton of fun. We just booked a show at Drifters in NH with A Second Chance, A Second Thought, Faraway, and Our Last Night. MAke sure you see that show, A Second Chance is incredible llive. leave some love.
Much love,
Billy

TREOS- The Rival Cycle |

Hello livejournal land,
Just thought I'd give a quick update... we have a lot going on right now (kind of). This Friday, we are playing at the Carr Cafe in Derry, NH with our good buddies in Faraway and Arwen. It's kind of a long drive, but this show will kick ass, so please come and support if you can. We will bring the rock. For more details, visit our myspace or purevolume site. Or our website, because it is functional now (thenorthwoodmusic.com). Also, we are taking new promo pics next Monday with the one and only Mike Duncan. We should have those back next week for your viewing pleasure, so check them out. Hit up Mike Duncan's site @ avoidthescene.com for some cool pictures, interviews, and more... you won't be dissapointed. Next Tuesday, The Northwizzle is going up to Houndstooth Studio to record 2 new songs (Relapse, Revisit: Wait, and Sounds of Autumn) with the legendary Casey Dowdell. This demo will be released sometime in March, so be on the lookout for that. Finally, we have a show next Thursday at the Drop Zone in Cumberland, RI. Check that out on myspace or something, I'm too lazy for more details.
One more thing... due to ineptitude at the Federated Church of Norfolk, the venue for the March 11th show is being changed. The new location will be determined in the next couple of days. It will still be in this area, and the show features TREOS, No Trigger, The Cadence, The Northwood, and Waving at Strangers. If you miss that show, you will regret it forever.
Love,
Mike S.
PS... we still have shirts, but they are going quickly... make sure you pick one up!

make sure you come early because The Northwood is playing first! and don't miss The Cadence, they just recorded some new songs with Matt Squire (All American Rejects, The Receiving End of Sirens, Northstar) and it's really good so don't miss it.
we also finally have shirts available for 10$, we have navy blue and maroon. They're gong fast so make sure you get one!
On Saturday, The Northwood is playing their last Xaverian show ever! that should be a good time. The dance starts at 7.
Lastly, The Northwood is going back to Houndstooth studios on February 22nd to record two new songs, "Sounds of Autumn" and "Relapse, Revisit, Wait". Those should be out in early march. hope to see everyone at the shows!

So a few people have asked me for these so i decided just to post them up here. These lyrics are from a new song that will be recorded February, 22nd and released in early March.
Relapse, Revisit, Wait...
Shipwrecked into the dark sky She flies solo but her hull Is packed to the brim. Sickness of the queen projects Widespread sympathy. You know i smell your fear.
Collapsed hull, failed muscle I'll give you what you need. 2 for, sink or swim, believe... This hope is tarnished by his decency. I know you still believe.
Stern placed your body suggest My barters are pleasant but not inviting To say the least. I never set sail Completed voyage with the maps they gave to me. To say the least this crew is able. We'll make it home someday.
Intentions lacking In light of despondent chances. Watch the north-star guide us home.
Collapsed hull I'm sure your failed muscle Hasnt relapsed like mine did. 2 For I'll sink, you'll swim But I still believe.
In a year my spine will read fiction But I'm trying so hard to tell the truth. A book of useless pages, tales of being courageous. I wear its title on my sleeve.
In light of despondent chances Watch the north-star guide us home I still believe...
So thats it, for now. Hope to see everyone tomorrow night in Kingston.
corgially, Greg

I would just like to say that everyone who came to or supported last nights show in any way deserves a pat on the back. You guys Rock! Probably one of the best shows any of us have ever been to. Andy to think, we even had the pleasure of playing at this amazing ocasion. Wow. Also the incredible support raised over 5,000$ for Dana Farber. One step closer to the cure for cancer. All the bands that played rocked out. We love you guys. It was an honor to Rock for Rosie and i know i speak for the rest of the guys when i say that We Love You!
You may or may not have noticed the debuet of our new t-shirts last night. Thank you to everyone that purchased one or any of other goodies. Every little bit of support counts especially when you are in a struggling teenage band where their parents refuse to give any money to the cause of getting a van...
We have a show next friday in Kingston, MA at the Knights Of Columbus with our dear friends The Cadence. If you havent checked out their new songs you must get your little tush over to purevolume.com/thecadence and do so. Also playing i believe is Feels Like July, Tomorrow's Hero, and The Blackout Romance. If anyone can make it out to this show it would be greatly appreciated. I know its down near the cape but if you want we can go to the beach after! Bonfire in a foot of snow?

Hey hey kids,
We are playing a show on Saturday, January 15th, in Derry NH. It's at the Carr Cafe and other bands playing include our buddies Arwen, who you definitely don't want to miss. Novacaine, The Far Reaches, and The Streetlight years are also playing, so be sure to check them out. We should have t-shirts on sale at this show for $10, so be sure to pick one up. I won't be at the show, but the admirable and very good looking Dan Roth will be filling in.
Thanks to everyone who came out to the show at The Living Room on Friday, we had a great time. If you can't make it on the 15th, we have a bunch of shows coming up that are listed on purevolume.com/thenorthwood and myspace.com/thenorthwood. Also, plans to record a couple new songs are in the works, and new material should be out sometime in March.
